About the event
Join the UM Indigenous Birding Club for a special conversation with Ozaawi Mashkode-Bizhiki (Brown Buffalo, Taylor Galvin). Taylor is from Brokenhead Ojibway Nation, a lecturer and graduate student at the University of Manitoba, and one of the first Fellows of the First Nations Women Transforming Conservation Fellowship through the Wildlife Conservation Society of Canada.
Taylor will share her knowledge of birds and their connections to the land, water, and community. Her work blends Indigenous and Western sciences, reminding us that birding isn’t just about identifying species but instead, it’s about building relationships and paying attention to the world around us.
Bring your curiosity and your love for birds. This is going to be a good one. Everyone’s welcome. Date: Tuesday, November 18 Time: 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Location: Gaa-maamawabing (322 Education Building, 71 Curry Place, Fort Garry Campus)
